Gratitude Friday LogoJust before Thanksgiving last year, the Huffington Post did a piece about why gratitude is healthy. The first reason included research that it’s good for teens’ mental health, and with four teenage dudes living in my house, I can confirm it’s absolutely true!

While it’s nice to give thanks around turkey time, I find it invaluable (and yes, healthy!) to have an attitude of gratitude throughout the year. Each Friday, I reflect on my week and list a few kindnesses and blessings that have come my way. Maybe not earth-shattering things, I grant you, but appreciated nonetheless. Here’s what I’m particularly grateful for this week:

>>  My loving husband for doing yeoman’s duty cooking, shopping and schlepping — and the merry Reiser men for putting up with me being under the weather for so long with a stubborn sinus infection that’s made me foggy, dopey and a bit cranky.

>>  Hot soup, hot tea, hot showers. The only effective remedies when you’re chilled to the bone.

>>  Zicam Intense Sinus Relief gel. Not a good habit to start, but temporary relief indeed from puffy, painful chipmunk cheeks and throbbing teeth!

>>  A quick roadside hug from my daddy as he was passing through town on a roadtrip. Nothing makes the day better!

>>  A great date night and the discovery of Neta, a fabulous new sushi/Japanese spot in NYC (that we’re going back to again tonight incidentally)

>>  Rotisserie chicken from Saugatuck Craft Butchery, the most delish and easy dinner any night of the week (except Monday when they’re closed!)

>>  A sweet lifelong friend who made me smile from 42,000 feet over Chicago

How bout you? What’s something you’re grateful for this week?
